Actor-turned-politician Kamal Haasan has offered his former house to be turned into a makeshift hospital to treat Covid-19 patients.

According to India's Health Ministry’s morning update on Mar 26, Covid-19 cases in the country have increased to 649 and 13 of them have been declared dead from the virus.

With the rapid growth in the number of cases, Kamal Haasan has suggested in his tweet, the temporary hospital with doctors and medical professionals from his party Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) party to treat the patients. The building is currently in use by the party members. Take a look at the tweet in Tamil here:

"At this crucial time, I am willing to convert my former house into a temporary hospital. The doctors in Makkal Needhi Maiam are ready to serve the patients also if government permits. In this time of crisis, I am trying to help the people, to bring the people in the justice system, the building that was my home, to temporarily help the people."

He has also posted an open letter to PM Narendra Modi pleading for the 'Economic Response Task Force' to consider 'the livelihood of millions of workers, agriculture and manual labourers, fishermen and MSME workers'. This is the complete letter:
