Could Rajinikanth's 171st film be his farewell to the Silver Screen?
Following a statement made by Tamil director Mysskin in an interview, Rajinikanth's upcoming project with up-and-coming experimental filmmaker Lokesh Kangaaraj would be his final film career.
With a lot of exciting projects on the horizon, the director's statement quickly rose to attention across social media. Several avid Rajinikanth followers have turned to social media to express their disbelief at the announcement.
But just to make things clear…
This ain’t the first time we’re hearing such speculations about his retirement. Ever since his movie 'Kaala' (2018), the talk has been going on, but this hasn't stopped the veteran actor from signing new projects.
It is not uncommon for such rumors to emerge about actors, especially when they reach a certain age or after the release of a particular film. Fans often speculate about the retirement plans of their favorite stars, creating anticipation and discussion within the fan community.
Speaking about his upcoming flick which is helmed by Nelson - ‘Jailer’ will be having its theatrical release on Aug 10. Meanwhile, his next in the line will be ‘Lal Salaam’ which is under his daughter Aishwarya's directorial debut.
Rajinikanth's 170th film is tentatively titled 'Thalaivar 170' and will be directed by TJ Gnanavel. Followed by 'Thalaivar 171' which will be helmed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. It is likely to be produced by Sun Pictures.
The 72-year-old superstar has been known to have a dedicated and passionate fan base, and his films have consistently performed well at the box office. The actor himself has expressed his love for cinema and his desire to continue entertaining his fans. While retirement is a personal decision that an actor ultimately makes, it is understandable why fans would hope that Rajinikanth continues to grace the screen with his presence.
Ultimately, only Rajinikanth can decide when he wants to retire from acting. While we don't have any official confirmation yet, this news has certainly left us wondering if this could be the end of an era in the film industry. Until then, his fans can look forward to his upcoming projects and continue to enjoy his performances on the big screen. More updates to follow!
