Malaysia is grappling with two tragic incidents involving the deaths of young children, leading to ongoing murder investigations.

In the first incident, a 10-year-old Orang Asli girl was found dead in a swamp in Kampung Bersah, Pos Kuala Mu, on Saturday, August 17. Sungai Siput OCPD Supt. Mohd Khaizam Ahmad Shahabudin revealed that the girl, who had been missing since Friday, August 16, was believed to have been raped and murdered.

The post-mortem report indicated bruises on her neck and tears on her private parts. Authorities suspect that the victim may have been killed elsewhere before her body was dumped at the swamp. The case, initially treated as a sudden death, has now been reclassified as murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code. A 17-year-old suspect was arrested on August 17 to assist with the investigation.

In a separate incident, a couple in Rawang was arrested on August 17 on suspicion of abusing their eight-year-old daughter, resulting in her death at an apartment.

Gombak police chief Noor Ariffin Nasir stated that the girl's biological mother and stepfather were taken into custody around 9 pm after the police received information about the child's death earlier that afternoon, around 3:30 pm.

A preliminary examination of the victim revealed injuries and bruises on her face, hands, legs, and body, which are believed to have been inflicted using blunt objects, belts, and cloth hangers. The victim’s body has been sent to Sungai Buloh Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

The police classified the case as murder, and the suspects, aged 29 and 28, have been remanded for seven days until August 24 to assist with further investigations.
