Four men, suspected to be involved in the rape of a 14-year-old teenage girl in Sungai Ara, Bayan Lepas have been arrested by the South West District Police.
The South West District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Sazalee Adam, has made a major breakthrough in a recent case. Four suspects, aged between 20 to 25 years old, have been successfully arrested in Bayan Lepas and Sungai Ara yesterday. This comes after the victim bravely made a report, leading to the swift action of our dedicated police force.
Sazalee said, the investigation found that the incident took place at the rented house of a suspect in Jalan Sungai Ara, Bayan Lepas.
He said, based on the victim's testimony, the first 24-year-old suspect, whom he had known since last April, had taken him out for a walk in Relau, before taking him home to the rented house at 2 am.
"The suspect then had sex with the victim before two other suspects who were not known to the 20-year-old victim did the same thing.
"The victim was then taken out to watch a motorcycle race in Bayan Baru at 3 am before the suspect took the victim home to the same rented house and the victim was again raped by all the suspects in turn at 4 am.
"The suspect then sent the victim home at 5 am," he said in a media statement today.
Sazalee said the victim was taken to Penang Hospital for further examination.
He said, three suspects were arrested on suspicion of raping the victim while another 25-year-old suspect was also arrested to help investigate the case.
The police have obtained a remand order at the Balik Pulau Magistrate's Court and all suspects are now remanded for further investigation and being investigated according to Section 375B of the Penal Code, which is gang rape.
