The actor who made his debut in cinema as a child artist in 'En Veedu Enn Kanavar', got his first opportunity to be a hero in a Telugu movie 'Prema Phusthakam' in 1992.

However, tragedy struck when the movie's director Gollapudi Srinivas died due to a water accident on the set.

The movie almost got halted due to this. However, the late director's father. Gollapudi Maruthi Rao took over the project and released the movie the following year.

Due to the delay, Ajith's supposedly second movie 'Amaravathy' was released prior to the 'Prema Phusthakam'.
