The Hema Committee report has ignited a firestorm within the Malayalam film industry, bringing to light distressing revelations of sexual abuse. FIRs related to sexual assault have been filed against several prominent actors and directors, shaking the industry to its core.

In a recent and shocking revelation, actress Radhika Sarathkumar exposed alarming issues within the Malayalam film industry. Speaking to a Malayalam news channel, she disclosed that hidden cameras were allegedly placed in the caravans of actresses to record explicit footage. These recordings were reportedly stored in folders labelled with the actresses' names and later circulated among men involved in the industry.

Radhika refrained from naming any specific films or individuals, expressing her desire not to shame anyone publicly. She shared that she had personally been approached by women seeking help and that these issues are not confined to Kerala but occur across different languages in the film industry.

Welcoming the release of the Hema Committee report, Radhika emphasized that she has faced similar experiences throughout her 40-year career. "Of course, people have misbehaved with me," she admitted, highlighting that inappropriate behaviour remains a pervasive issue in the industry. She stressed the importance of women asserting their boundaries, but also lamented the lack of response from men in the industry, leaving women to bear the burden of addressing such concerns alone.

Radhika acknowledged the personal risks of speaking out, which has often led her to avoid naming specific individuals involved. She noted that these troubling incidents are not unique to the Malayalam industry but occur across various film industries.

In a related development, the Kasaba Police have registered a case against director Ranjith following a complaint by a young man alleging sexual harassment. The case involves charges of unnatural sexual offenses, marking the first time a man has come forward with such a complaint in the wake of the #MeToo movement in the Malayalam film industry. Ranjith is among several high-profile figures in the industry facing accusations of sexual harassment from female actors.

Additionally, film director VA Shrikumar Menon has been booked by the Maradu Police in Kochi after a junior artist accused him of sexual assault in a hotel. These revelations continue to unravel, painting a disturbing picture of the exploitation and abuse within the Malayalam film industry.
