Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, recently revealed that Ashok Elluswamy, of Indian origin, was the first individual recruited for the electric vehicle company's Autopilot team. Elluswamy has played a pivotal role in advancing Autopilot engineering.
"Ashok was the first person recruited from my tweet saying that Tesla is starting an Autopilot team!" Musk tweeted, expressing his gratitude for Elluswamy's contributions.
Elluswamy began his journey as the initial member of Tesla's AI/Autopilot team and has since risen to the position of head of Autopilot engineering. Musk highlighted Elluswamy's importance, stating, "Without him and our awesome team, we would just be another car company looking for an autonomy supplier that doesn’t exist."
Musk also mentioned that he was unaware of Elluswamy's tweet until recently, clarifying that he had no prior involvement in prompting the acknowledgment.
Elluswamy's appointment highlights Tesla's commitment to innovation and workforce diversity, with his leadership playing a crucial role in the company's advancements in autonomous driving technology.
