Monday begins on a high note with the remarkable achievements of young minds from SJK (T) Rawang, a Tamil school in Rawang, Malaysia.
A team of talented 12-year-old students has gained national recognition for their innovative project, the ROBIN-1 Smart Dustbin, earning two Gold Awards and one Silver Award at prestigious events:
- Konvensyen Pendidikan Sarawak 2024 (Gold Award)
- Malaysia Grand Invention Expo 2nd Edition 2024 (MaGIEx24) (Gold Award)
- ICTE International Conference on Teacher Education (Silver Award)
The team comprises bright young innovators Kanniesh Shaindavy A/P Kannigeswaran, Kirthana Sivaji Raja, Mogana Sivaji Raja, and Ajjeyvel A/L Vijaya Vikneswaran. Guided by their dedicated teachers, Agila Devi A/P Rajamanikam, Jaymalar A/P Ranggasamy, and Suganthi A/P Ponnambalam, the students developed ROBIN-1, a sensor-based dustbin designed to combat littering and promote hygiene.
This ground-breaking invention automatically opens upon detecting movement, reducing human contact with germs and bacteria. Crafted using recyclable materials and powered by solar energy, ROBIN-1 emphasizes eco-friendliness and responsible waste disposal, offering a cleaner and healthier solution for communities.
