After more than two decades, Kamal Haasan and director Shankar reunited for Indian 2, a highly anticipated sequel to their iconic 1996 film. However, the sequel received a lukewarm reception from both audiences and critics. Actor Bobby Simha, who also featured in the film, shared his thoughts on the negative reviews in an interview with Behindwoods.

Bobby Simha’s take on negative reviews

When asked about the film's reception, Bobby defended Indian 2, suggesting that people often criticize to appear intelligent. "Everyone thinks they’re intelligent. If something is good, people think they’ll look foolish if they admit that. So, instead, they make up reasons to criticize it. We shouldn’t care about them. We need to only care about the audience, the family audience who liked the film. We don’t need to care about intellects and their opinions," Bobby stated. He also emphasized that Indian 2 should not be judged until Indian 3 is released.

Bobby's comments sparked a backlash on social media, with movie buffs expressing their displeasure. One user on X (formerly Twitter) wrote, "#BobbySimha rather than blaming audiences, admit the flaws in the movie and try to entertain audiences genuinely. Please re-watch your brilliant performances in #Indian2 again. Don't underestimate audiences."

Another user commented, "Bobby Simha, it's important to acknowledge and respect the diverse opinions of the audience. If people are expressing their dislike for #Indian2, it's a reflection of their genuine experiences. Perhaps you should consider watching the movie with the general audience, rather than in a celebrity setting, to better understand their perspective and feedback."

Despite the mixed reactions, the conversation surrounding Indian 2 highlights the ongoing discourse about the film's impact and the expectations surrounding such high-profile projects.
