Superstar Rajinikanth has been consistently working on multiple films over the past decade, unlike in the 1990s and 2000s when he took longer breaks between projects. Since Kabali, the legendary actor has been part of Kaala, 2.0, Petta, Darbar, Annaatthe, Jailer, Lal Salaam, and Vettaiyan without significant pauses. Currently, he is filming Coolie and has Jailer 2 in the pipeline.
According to industry sources, after working tirelessly for years, Rajinikanth is now considering a three-to-four-month break to rest and recuperate. Following this hiatus, he will make decisions regarding his upcoming projects. Reports also suggest that he has not committed to any new films beyond Jailer 2.
Additionally, it is speculated that Rajinikanth has shown little interest in collaborating with director Maari Selvaraj. After working on Kabali and Kaala, he was perceived as aligning with politically driven filmmakers, and sources suggest he now prefers to avoid politically influenced projects. Both Maari Selvaraj and Pa. Ranjith have directed films reflecting strong political narratives, and Rajinikanth reportedly wishes to steer clear of such associations at this point in his career.
Furthermore, Rajinikanth faced health issues while filming Coolie under Lokesh Kanagaraj’s direction. This, too, may have contributed to his decision to take a temporary break before finalizing future commitments.
