Chennai airport customs officials have implemented restrictions on the carriage of sweets by international passengers. Recently, four travelers bound for Bangkok from Chennai were denied permission to transport sweet boxes in their luggage. According to reports, the officials cited a prohibition on carrying sweets aboard the flight.




Despite the passengers' explanations that they had acquired the sweets in Chennai following a festive occasion, the officials remained steadfast in their decision and subsequently canceled the passengers' tickets.

However, it is worth noting that the same four passengers were able to travel from Chennai to Mumbai on a domestic flight without any hindrance from Mumbai customs, allowing them to proceed to Bangkok with their sweet boxes
