Actors Silambarasan TR and Dhanush have shared a long-standing relationship that has seen both camaraderie and competition. Once best friends, the two stars experienced a shift in dynamics over the years, though according to Silambarasan, it was more about professional rivalry than personal discord. In an earlier interview, Silambarasan, also known as Simbu, addressed the widespread narrative surrounding their so-called feud.

He clarified that, despite public perception, there has never been animosity between them on a personal level. “Friendship is different, and cinema is different,” he said. “When it comes to our profession, he is my opponent. I fight against them in cinema, which is how we can grow.”

Simbu elaborated that he views Dhanush as a worthy competitor, one who pushes him to raise the bar with each project. He recalled feeling inspired when Dhanush’s Polladhavan became a major hit. “I don’t know whether he was happy or not, but I felt happy because it inspired me to give a bigger hit than that. And when my film becomes successful, it should motivate him to do a better film than mine,” he explained.

Over the years, both Simbu and Dhanush have carved unique identities in the Tamil film industry, with critically acclaimed performances and strong fan followings. Their journey from friendly beginnings to respectful professional rivalry has only contributed to their growth as artists. Currently, Silambarasan is gearing up for the release of his highly anticipated film Thug Life, alongside legendary actor Kamal Haasan.

Several other projects are also in the pipeline, marking an exciting phase in his career. Their mutual drive for excellence continues to elevate Tamil cinema, proof that healthy competition can indeed fuel creativity and success.
