Indeed a great news, as Datuk Ambiga Sreenevasan has been appointed as the new president of the Pure Life Society.

With the recent loss of Datin Paduka Dr A. Mangalam - Datuk Ambiga is stepping up to replace her place and it was officially announced by Hindu Sevai Sangam, which congratulated Ambiga on her appointment.

‘Mother Mangalam’, who co-founded Pure Life Society and was its life president, died on June 10.

Ambiga Sreenevasan is a well-known lawyer and human rights advocate from Malaysia. She has received recognition for her work in promoting human rights and democracy. In 2009, she was awarded the US International Women of Courage Award for her efforts in advocating for women's rights and promoting democracy in Malaysia.

The 67-year-old dedicated gem has also served as the president of the Malaysian Bar Council from 2007 to 2009. During her tenure, she actively championed various legal and human rights issues. She is also known for her involvement in the Coalition for Free and Fair Elections (Bersih), where she served as a co-chairperson. Bersih is a non-governmental organization in Malaysia that advocates for electoral reform and the promotion of free and fair elections.
