Hurtful remarks, whether about appearance or personality, can take a toll on both mental and physical well-being. Many public figures have spoken out about the impact of body-shaming, and recently, popular Tamil television host and actress Dhivyadharshini Neelakandan (DD) joined the conversation by addressing height-shaming.

Taking to social media, the Koffee with DD host shared stunning pictures of herself in a white saree with a thick violet border; styled by Pradeep Shakthi along with a powerful caption:

"Don’t wear a big border saree, you will look short. I’ve heard this so many times, and every time I tell myself, it’s okay. DD, if you like it, wear it."

Her words resonated with many, serving as a reminder that confidence and self-acceptance matter far more than external opinions.

Beyond body-shaming, DD has also faced criticism for her energetic hosting style, often being labelled as ‘too loud’ or ‘overacting.’ In an interview with Behindwoods, she shared her perspective on handling negativity.

"It’s a free world, people see things in their own way. I divide feedback into two categories: how many people enjoy what I do and how many don’t. As long as the first category is larger, I follow that."

She went on to explain the immense pressure of live hosting.

"People say I’m loud, and maybe they’re right. But what they don’t see is the challenge I face on stage. I can’t hear anything over the noise, backstage instructions, the audience shouting; yet I have to keep them engaged and entertained. In that moment, I do whatever it takes to ensure the show moves forward. It’s not about blaming anyone or myself, it’s just part of what I do."

DD’s words serve as an inspiration for anyone struggling with self-doubt due to external criticism. Whether it’s about appearance, personality, or career choices, her message is clear: do what makes you feel confident and never let negativity hold you back.
