This sacred month is filled with vibrant festivals such as Aadi Perukku, Aadi Krithigai, and various Amman temple ceremonies. As we approach the final days of Aadi, this is the perfect opportunity for those who could not participate earlier to complete the month on a spiritually fulfilling note.
While Aadi has several special days, Fridays and Tuesdays are especially devoted to the Goddess. One of the most cherished traditions during this time is the Sumangali Poojai. Performing this ritual is said to invoke the blessings of the Goddess, bringing auspiciousness to the home.
In many families, it is customary to:
- Invite an odd number of married women (Sumangalis) for the puja.
- Prepare a special feast and serve them with devotion.
- Present them with tamboolam, which may include betel leaves, flowers, bananas, turmeric, kumkumam, and a coin.

Those who are able may also include items such as henna, coconut, glass bangles, comb, fruits, blouse pieces, or sarees in the tamboolam.
If hosting at home is not possible, you can:
- Visit the nearby Amman temple.
- Offer Archana and a saree to the Goddess.
- Distribute tamboolam to women present in the temple.
For specific blessings, devotees often recite:
- Lalita Sahasranamam – for prosperity, health, and divine grace.
- Abhirami Andhadhi – to remove negative influences and evil eye.
- Kanaka Tara Stotram – to overcome debt and attract wealth.
The last Friday of Aadi is more than just a day on the calendar, it is an opportunity to surrender with devotion, offer your prayers, and invite the Goddess’s grace into your life for the year ahead.
