Museums are a place that can take visitors back in time, and give them a glimpse of a place's history and culture.

In conjunction with International Museum Day, the Department of Museums Malaysia (JMM) will be offering FREE admission to all its museums nationwide this Sunday, 18 May 2025. The announcement was made by National Unity Minister Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang in a statement on Wednesday, 14 May.

“From north to south, east to west, museums serve as meeting points between ancient heritage and future aspirations, connecting communities through a spirit of unity and a love for history. Come visit JMM museums across the country and celebrate our heritage together!” he urged.

This initiative is part of efforts to promote appreciation for Malaysia’s rich cultural legacy and to encourage greater public participation in preserving the nation’s history.

The following 19 JMM museums will be open to the public for free on 18 May:

Members of the public are encouraged to take this opportunity to explore the diverse history, cultural heritage, and stories that shape Malaysia’s national identity. Happy exploring!
