In conjunction with International Museum Day, the Department of Museums Malaysia (JMM) will be offering FREE admission to all its museums nationwide this Sunday, 18 May 2025. The announcement was made by National Unity Minister Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang in a statement on Wednesday, 14 May.
“From north to south, east to west, museums serve as meeting points between ancient heritage and future aspirations, connecting communities through a spirit of unity and a love for history. Come visit JMM museums across the country and celebrate our heritage together!” he urged.
This initiative is part of efforts to promote appreciation for Malaysia’s rich cultural legacy and to encourage greater public participation in preserving the nation’s history.
The following 19 JMM museums will be open to the public for free on 18 May:
- National Museum, Kuala Lumpur
- Malay World Ethnology Museum, Kuala Lumpur
- Orang Asli Crafts Museum, Kuala Lumpur
- National Automobile Museum, Selangor
- Labuan Museum
- Labuan Marine Museum, Labuan
- Labuan Chimney Museum, Labuan
- Bujang Valley Archaeological Museum, Kedah
- Kota Kuala Kedah Museum, Kedah
- Kota Kayang Museum, Perlis
- Perak Museum
- Matang Museum, Perak
- Sungai Lembing Museum, Pahang
- Lukut Museum, Negeri Sembilan
- Malaysia Architecture Museum, Melaka
- Kota Johor Lama Museum, Johor
- Customs Museum, Negeri Sembilan
- National Textiles Museum, Kuala Lumpur
- Kuala Lumpur Music Museum
