Director Venkat Prabhu has reportedly approached the family of late actor-politician Vijayakanth with a proposal to resurrect him using Artificial Intelligence (AI) for a cameo appearance in the upcoming Thalapathy Vijay-starrer film "GOAT." In an interview with Galatta, Vijayakanth's wife and prominent politician, Premalatha, confirmed that discussions have been ongoing for several weeks. She indicated that a decision regarding this matter will be made after the Lok Sabha Elections.

Premalatha, who currently serves as the president of Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK), has been actively involved in election campaigning. She mentioned, "Venkat Prabhu has visited our home on multiple occasions and had extensive discussions with my son, Shanmugapandian. He also expressed his desire to meet with me. Recently, during my election campaign in Chennai, we discussed this matter further. Venkat Prabhu explained their intention to digitally recreate Captain (Vijayakanth) for a scene in 'GOAT' and sought our consent. He also mentioned Vijay's interest in meeting me in person."

Premalatha emphasized her consideration of what her late husband, Vijayakanth, would have wanted, highlighting his fondness for Vijay and his father, SA Chandrasekhar. "Captain had collaborated with Vijay in 'Sendhoorapaandi,' which contributed to Vijay's career growth. He held a great affection for Vijay and SA Chandrasekhar, having worked with the latter in 17 films," she noted. "I believe that if Captain were still with us, he would have supported this endeavour. I have conveyed this sentiment to the team. Once the elections conclude, I look forward to meeting Vijay and delivering a positive response."

The potential AI-based cameo appearance of Vijayakanth in "GOAT" has garnered significant interest within the film industry and among fans, awaiting a decision from the family post-elections.
