Following the detection of a chemical compound in two types of instant noodles, the Malaysian Health Ministry has issued an order to recall it. The affected products are "Ah Lai White Curry Noodles" made by a Malaysian manufacturer, and “Indomie: Special Chicken Flavour" noodles from Indonesia.

Health director-general Muhammad Radzi Abu Hassan stated that the Malaysian manufacturer had complied with local health standards but a recall order was made on a batch of the products to ensure food safety.

A CNA report on Monday (April 24) quoted Taipei's Department of Health as claiming that two types of instant noodles made by Southeast Asian brands have been found to contain a cancer-inducing substance.
In their recent statement, they claimed that both instant noodles from Indonesia both contained ethylene oxide, a chemical compound associated with lymphoma and leukemia.

On the other hand, Bernama has stated that ethylene oxide can also seriously irritate the skin and eyes of those who come into contact with the substance and can even trigger birth and hereditary defects.

It is concerning that two types of instant noodles made by Southeast Asian brands have been found to contain ethylene oxide, as this could pose a significant health risk to consumers who have consumed these products. The recall order made by the Malaysian health authorities is a positive step in ensuring that these products are removed from the market to prevent further exposure to this harmful substance.
