The ongoing Movement Control Order (MCO) has caused many yoga practitioners to turn their homes into yoga studios. A small space in the living room, bedroom, attic, porch or balconies, and even kitchen and garden, have become workout areas.
Besides providing the opportunity to practice yoga in our own comfort zones, it is also a way to take care of ourselves. A space dedicated solely to yoga strengthens our practice and helps us keep to a consistent schedule.
If you don't have your own space yet, it's about time you think about opening one.
Here are some tips to help you create your own yoga space at home.
1) Choose a strategic place
Consider the lighting of this space. It preferably needs to be an area with good sunlight, but at the same time, provides good privacy. If there are people coming in and out of the said place all day long, you may not find the comfort you need to practice. If you cannot find a separate room, choose a corner in your home to be made your yoga space. If possible, decorate the said area with some plants, nature-themed wallpapers or a nice carpet.
2) A neat and easy space
It goes without saying that the chosen space needs to be neat and in order to make you feel safe and comfortable.
3) Add some personal touch
By adding some personal touch to the area, your space will be infused with balance and harmony. You can add bells and chimes, Buddha statues, crystal stones, beads or any artwork that gives you peace and tranquility. If you have a room, paint it in your favorite color. You can put your favorite plant, flower vase, shells, water features or whatever you find beautiful.
4) Have some music, mantra, or sound of nature
This is an option, but good to have, especially if you are living in a noisy place. Soothing music can bring harmony, peace, and tranquility.
5) Aroma
Having a good aroma helps you to focus and fill your space with beautiful and calming energy. Incense, aromatic oils or candles with a meditative scent, or some fresh flowers will do the trick.
The above are some ways to cerate your own yoga space. It is important to carefully build a space that suits your preference and arouses the right mood. You can take your time and find the stuff you really like, and them to your space until you are really satisfied. Good luck trying!
