Nayanthara recently opened up about her journey through love, heartbreak, and rediscovery in an exclusive interview with The Hollywood Reporter. She discussed the pivotal moments that shaped her personal and professional life, including her decision to leave the film industry in 2011 and her eventual return to redefine success on her own terms.

Reflecting on her past relationship with choreographer-turned-director Prabhudeva, Nayanthara revealed how the experience influenced her perception of love and self-worth. “I was in a phase where I believed I had to compromise if I wanted love in my life. I was too vulnerable and young,” she admitted. Her idea of love at the time was deeply rooted in sacrifice, shaped by dynamics she observed in the film industry. “I genuinely thought that to have love, you needed to sacrifice. If your partner doesn’t like something, you should just let it go. That was my idea of love back then.”

This mindset led her to step away from acting in 2011. However, her final project before the break, Sri Rama Rajyam, proved transformative. “It hit me hard that this is not just a profession for me. It’s a part of who I am. I was born to do this,” she shared. After the relationship ended, Nayanthara made a powerful comeback in 2013 with Greeku Veerudhu, marking the beginning of her meteoric rise to stardom.

Nayanthara credits this challenging chapter in her life for her personal growth. “That relationship put me through my worst phase, but it also brought out the best in me. It made me realize my strength and what I’m truly capable of,” she said.

Her life took a transformative turn when she met filmmaker Vignesh Shivan during the making of Naanum Rowdy Dhaan. Over eight years of dating, the couple built a solid relationship based on mutual respect and understanding, culminating in their marriage in June 2022. Speaking about her husband, Nayanthara shared, “The whole concept of love changed for me after meeting him. I now understand that unconditional love exists, you just have to find the right person.”

Nayanthara’s story has resonated deeply with her fans, particularly following the release of her Netflix documentary, which highlights both her professional milestones and personal journey. “I’ve received so many messages from women asking, ‘Where did you find this guy?’” she said with a laugh. Her playful response? “Don’t put nazar (evil eye)!”
