A former administrative officer in the Indian Army, she now runs a humble food stall on Khajrana Road, turning heads and winning hearts not just for her delicious food, but for the spirit she embodies. Her story, recently shared in a viral Instagram video by Kashish Soni, is a powerful reminder that living life on your own terms doesn't come with an expiry date.
In the video, she stands firm, calmly preparing plates of soft, steaming idlis paired with hot sambhar. When asked what she’s cooking, her answer is simple yet confident: “Idli Sambhar,” accompanied by a smile that reflects decades of discipline, resilience, and quiet determination.
But there’s far more to her story than just good food.
She shared with Kashish that after serving in the Indian Army, she had no intention of slowing down. Retirement didn’t mean retreat, it meant reinvention. Despite being a Fine Arts graduate who once travelled to Mumbai to pursue her artistic interests, it is her food stall today that fuels her passion and independence.
Her choices reflect a life lived entirely on her own terms including her decision to never marry. "Marriage would have come in the way of my hobbies and freedom," she shared candidly, unapologetically embracing the life she carved out for herself.
In a touching moment captured on video, when Soni tried to pay for her food, the elderly woman gently refused, insisting she take it for free. That simple gesture, grounded in dignity rather than charity, left thousands moved.
Online, people are hailing her as the true embodiment of independence, purpose, and self-respect. Her story has become a beacon of inspiration, proof that age is never a limit when your heart is driven by passion and your spirit remains unshaken.
Because sometimes, the simplest food comes served with the most powerful life lessons.
