The highly anticipated pooja ceremony for Mookuthi Amman 2 recently took place, drawing an impressive array of celebrities and generating considerable buzz.

Unlike the first installment, which was co-directed by actor-turned-filmmaker RJ Balaji, the sequel is now being helmed by renowned director Sundar C. In a recent interview with Galatta, RJ Balaji opened up about not directing the sequel, explaining that his creative vision did not align with the producers’ plans for the project.

“I am not interested in doing Mookuthi Amman 2 now. My plans, my journey, and the things that are written on it didn’t fit into this. So, they had an idea of what to do, but I didn’t have any. That’s why there is another director,” RJ Balaji clarified.

The director further shared that since Sundar C, known for Madha Gaja Raja, had initially introduced him to filmmaking, he approached Sundar C about directing Mookuthi Amman 2 when his own ideas for the sequel did not materialize.

The formal launch event of the Nayanthara-starrer sequel was held recently in Chennai, attended by most of the cast and crew, including the leading actress herself. During the event, producer Ishari Ganesh made a bold statement, declaring that the project would be a “pan-world film” produced on a massive budget of Rs. 100 crores.

The excitement surrounding Mookuthi Amman 2 continues to grow, especially with Sundar C at the helm and an ambitious vision set for the sequel.
