In a recent interview with Galatta during the promotions of Thug Life, veteran actor-filmmaker Kamal Haasan opened up about his admiration for Rajinikanth’s performances and their cinematic journeys over the years.

When asked to choose his favourite Rajinikanth film from a list that included Thalapathi, Baashha, and Mullum Malarum, Kamal instantly replied, "Mullum Malarum for me."

He then revealed a lesser-known fact, he was originally supposed to act in Mullum Malarum, which would have marked yet another collaboration with the Superstar.

The two legends have shared screen space in over a dozen films. Reflecting on the evolution of their respective cinematic styles, Kamal shared with a hint of humour, “Between us, we had decided that he should do films like Baashha, and I should do films like Mullum Malarum.”

Kamal also cited Apoorva Raagangal, the film that introduced Rajinikanth to Tamil cinema as one of his favourites, noting, “In Apoorva Raagangal, I am the villain, not him. I play the foolish lover who comes in between two lovers.” He went on to add Avargal and Thappu Thalangal to his list of cherished Rajinikanth films, showcasing his deep appreciation for the Superstar’s diverse performances across decades.
