In a heartwarming moment, IAS officer Dr. J. Radhakrishnan, who rescued a young girl during the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, officiated her wedding two decades later.

As a district collector during the disaster, Dr. Radhakrishnan discovered Meena, the youngest survivor, crying amidst the devastation in Keechankuppam, Tamil Nadu. She was placed in the Annai Sathya Government Children’s Home, but he and his wife, Krithika, continued to support her beyond their official duties.

Even after being transferred, Dr. Radhakrishnan remained involved in Meena’s life, guiding her as she pursued her education and became a nurse. When she decided to marry, he traveled to Nagapattinam to be part of her special day.

A day to remember, a family that has grown beyond bonds of blood.”
