Despite the complexity of the case, Insp Karnan made him a relentless force in his line of duty. The officer from the Muar Criminal Investigation Department who recently made headlines for his swift and efficient solving of a heart-breaking triple murder case.

The tragedy involved the loss of an elderly couple and their 11-year-old granddaughter in a fire at their home in Kampung Paya Redan, Pagoh. The fire also left the couple's 14-year-old granddaughter injured. What made the case even more devastating was the revelation that the main suspect was none other than the victims’ own family member, their son and the children’s uncle.

Despite the complexity of the case, Insp Karnan and his team worked tirelessly to bring the suspect to justice. Following a meticulous trail, they tracked the 48-year-old man across state lines to Kuala Lumpur.

Through strategic investigation, including reviewing CCTV footage from the Southern Integrated Terminal (TBS) and Pudu Sentral, they pursued the suspect across the city. After five days of unrelenting effort, Insp Karnan and his team successfully apprehended the suspect in the Bukit Bintang area, ensuring that justice would be served.

Insp Karnan, who has served the police force for over 14 years, shared that his drive to solve cases stems from his ability to empathize deeply with the victims and their families. "I take every case very seriously and often ask myself, what if this happened to my own family?" he said.

For him, justice goes beyond simply making an arrest; it’s about ensuring the accused face trial and the victims’ families find closure. “The sense of duty and the feeling I get when I put myself in the shoes of the victims or their family members push me to always give my all in carrying out my responsibilities,” said the dedicated father of two.

For his outstanding work, Insp Karnan was awarded a certificate of appreciation from the Johor police during their monthly assembly.
