High Court Judge K. Muniandy has achieved a significant milestone in his judicial career, being elevated to the Court of Appeal. The oath-taking ceremony took place at the Palace of Justice, marking another step in his long and dedicated service to the Malaysian legal system.

Born in Negeri Sembilan on October 12, 1961, Justice Muniandy’s journey is one of perseverance and integrity. A law graduate from Universiti Malaya, he began his career in 1984 as a federal counsel in the prosecution division of the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC). His commitment and diligence soon saw him serving as a senior magistrate in Raub and Kuala Lumpur from 1988 to 1990.

After rejoining the AGC, Justice Muniandy held various positions that further honed his experience in law and governance. His judicial career began in earnest when he was appointed as a judicial commissioner in 2019, followed by his promotion to High Court judge in 2022.

Now, with his elevation to the Court of Appeal, Justice Muniandy’s progression reflects not just personal accomplishment but also a testament to the values of dedication and public service that underpin Malaysia’s judiciary.

Under the Federal Constitution, appointments of judges are made by the King on the advice of the Prime Minister, following consultation with the Conference of Rulers. The Judicial Appointments Commission, chaired by the Chief Justice, carefully evaluates and recommends suitable candidates for such esteemed roles.
