Ulaganayagan Haasan's latest film, Indian 2, has failed to meet the expectations of both critics and audiences, leading to significant repercussions for its sequel, Indian 3.

According to several sources, the post-production work on Indian 3 is in jeopardy. The producers, Lyca Productions, are experiencing financial difficulties as their recent investments have not yielded the anticipated returns. The production of Indian 2 faced numerous challenges, but it was eventually revived with additional funding from Red Giant Movies.

The success of Indian 2 was crucial to the future of Indian 3, as Lyca Productions planned to use the earnings from the former to fund the latter’s post-production. However, with Indian 2 underperforming at the box office and receiving poor reviews, the pre-release deals made by the producers are reportedly being renegotiated.

Lyca Productions now faces additional pressure with two other major projects in progress: Superstar Rajinikanth's Vettaiyan and Ajith Kumar's Vidaamuyarchi. Both films are nearing completion and are scheduled for wide release soon, requiring substantial funds for completion and promotion.

During the promotions of Indian 2, Kamal Haasan emphasized the significance of Indian 3. "I agreed to do Indian 2 because of Indian 3. I can't wait for you all to watch it," Haasan stated repeatedly.

Furthermore, at the end of Indian 2, the filmmakers teased Indian 3, promising that the sequel would deliver everything that the audience felt was missing in Indian 2. Originally, Indian 2 was expected to hit the screens in January next year, but the current situation casts uncertainty over the release schedule and future of the franchise.
