Astro customers can look forward to the premiere of Family Feud Malaysia Tamil, the second out of three local adaptations of popular U.S. family game show ‘Family Feud’, on 3 June, 9pm exclusively on Astro Vinmeen (Ch 202) via TV, Astro GO and On Demand. Following a partnership with Fremantle, Astro initiated production for three versions of ‘Family Feud Malaysia’: Tamil, Bahasa Melayu which premiered earlier this year, and English which will premiere later this year.
Prem Anand, Vice President, Indian Customer Business, Astro, said, “We are excited to bring ‘Family Feud Malaysia Tamil’ to our customers. Having one of the most popular game shows in the world, Family Feud, in our slate of local adaptations continues to strengthen our position as the entertainment destination for Malaysians. We are also happy to share that a total of RM50,000 from the cash prize will be donated to five Tamil schools around the country and we hope this contribution helps the schools to uplift, educate and develop our future generations.”
Family Feud Malaysia Tamil will start off with the Team Leads from both teams competing to answer the first question at the podium. The fastest contestant to press the buzzer will be given the opportunity to answer. If the answer provided is at the top of the list of ‘survey’ responses, that team will proceed to guess the subsequent answers. If it is not, the opponent team will attempt to guess an answer higher up on the list. Responses listed are based on a survey conducted amongst 100 participants locally. The team with the highest marks will proceed to the fast money round for a chance to take home a cash prize of RM5,000.
Family Feud Malaysia Tamil will be hosted by popular local talent, J. Ram, following the footsteps of American comedian, Steve Harvey who is the host for the original U.S. format. Throughout the 16 episodes, fans can look forward to some of their favourite local artistes participating, including Denes Kumar, Aanantha, Shalini, Vikneswari, Uthaya, Suresh, Ahila, Kogu and more.
Five local Tamil schools, identified under the advisement and guidance of the Ministry of Education: SJKT Ladang Batu Ampat, Klang, Selangor; SJKT Ladang Coalfields, Sungai Buloh, Selangor; SJKT Ladang Sungai Sedu, Banting, Selangor; SJKT Nilai, Nilai, Negeri Sembilan; and SJKT Ladang Katoyang, Tanjong Malim, Perak, will receive a total of RM50,000 from the cash prize won by local talents on the show.
New episodes of Family Feud Malaysia Tamil premiere every Saturday at 9pm on TV and Astro GO, or stream anytime On Demand. For more information, visit content.astro.com.my.
