Acting Major Sathiyah Asokumar has been appointed the head of a division in the Royal Military Police Corps (KPTD).

She is the first female Indian officer to be appointed to head the anti-narcotics division of the military police branch of the Malaysian army.

According to a statement posted on the KPTD official Facebook page, the 35-year-old Sathiyah's promotion is effective Jan 4, 2021.

"May this promotion serve as a catalyst for her and other colleagues in KPTD to serve the force with commitment and responsibility," read the statement.

Congrats on your impressive achievement 'Singa Pen' Major Sathiyah!

Here's hoping that your achievement inspires more women, especially from the Indian community, to join and excel in the armed forces.
