“Malaysia Needs More Good People Like Him”: Hospital Kajang Guard Praised For Kindness And Dedication

A kind gesture may seem small to the person offering it, but for someone going through a difficult moment, it can become a memory they carry for years.

That is exactly what happened to one family at Hospital Kajang, where a security guard’s simple act of kindness left a lasting impression.

In a heartwarming post on Threads, user @aliffaim3n._ took a moment to recognise a security guard stationed near the ICU and Ward 1 area at Hospital Kajang, praising him for his kindness, professionalism and the warmth he continues to show to patients and visitors.

The guard, later identified by a family member in the comments as Nagenthiran, had apparently made an impression on the family two years ago. At the time, the user’s mother had just been discharged after spending 12 days in hospital, including time in the ICU before being moved to a normal ward.

Still weak and unable to help herself, she needed assistance getting from her wheelchair into the family car. The family was struggling to manage on their own when the security guard stepped in.

“He quickly came and helped us carry her from the wheelchair into the car,” the user recalled, adding a prayer of gratitude for the man who had helped them during such a vulnerable moment.

Two years later, when the user returned to the hospital to visit an acquaintance, he was surprised and touched to see the same security guard still working there.

What moved him even more was that Nagenthiran appeared to have retained the same kindness and dedication.

According to the post, he would raise his hand and wave whenever a car passed through the exit gate. He would also help drivers manoeuvre their vehicles into parking spaces, particularly in an area where the narrow space can make parking difficult.

When visitors approached him with questions, he was described as always responding with a smile and speaking politely.

“He doesn’t even play on his phone at all!” the user wrote, while wishing him good health and prosperity.

“Malaysia needs more good people like him.”

The post has also drawn attention to the kindness of other security personnel at Hospital Kajang. One commenter shared that many of the guards there have been accommodating, recalling how they recognised the family during visits when they were caring for their late eldest sister and brother-in-law.

For families walking through hospital corridors, waiting outside wards or taking loved one’s home after long and difficult stays, compassion can mean more than words. Sometimes, it is simply someone noticing that you need help and stepping forward without being asked.

And sometimes, years later, you remember that person. The family now hopes Hospital Kajang’s management will recognise Nagenthiran for his dedication, professionalism and kindness towards those who pass through its doors.

Because while a security guard’s job may be to keep people safe and manage the entrance, one man showed that the role can also be about something equally important, making people feel cared for when they need it most.
