A recent incident in Shah Alam serves as a reminder of how unsafe it can be to confront smokers directly. A pregnant woman and her husband were harassed after asking a man not to smoke at an eatery, he blew smoke in her face and even lashed out when she tried to record him. Situations like this highlight the risks of taking matters into our own hands.

But there’s now a safer way to act without putting yourself in danger. The Ministry of Health, together with the National Cancer Society Malaysia (NCSM) and several NGOs, has introduced JomLapor : a platform that allows the public to report smoking and vaping violations quickly and securely.

Here’s how you can make a report through JomLapor:

1. Start by selecting Jom Lapor Sekarang (Let’s Report Now) to access the FORM

2. Choose the type of violation from the list provided, whether it’s smoking in a no-smoking zone, sales to minors, illegal promotions, or even advertisements.

3. Upload up to three photos as evidence.

4. Provide details such as the name of the location, event, or social media account.

5. Select the state where the violation occurred.

6. Describe what happened in your own words.

7. Add the address of the location.

8. Finally, hit Hantar (Send) to submit your report.

The best part? You don’t need an app : JomLapor works directly from your phone or computer browser.

Instead of risking confrontation, you now have a safe, direct channel to protect yourself and others while supporting healthier, smoke-free spaces. So next time you witness a violation, skip the argument and let JomLapor handle it.
