In her response, Nayanthara took to Instagram to address the allegations, sharing a detailed three-page statement refuting Dhanush's claims. She explained that despite editing out the material in question, Dhanush and his production company raised objections over a mere three-second behind-the-scenes (BTS) clip, which was filmed on personal devices and is already publicly available on social media.
Nayanthara expressed her disappointment, stating that Dhanush’s refusal to grant a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for the use of songs from their 2015 film, Naanum Rowdy Dhaan, has further complicated the situation. She described his actions as unnecessary and vindictive.
In her post, Nayanthara wrote:
"Cinema, as we all know, is a fight for survival for people like me—a self-made woman with no connections in the industry who has had to struggle to reach where I am today. My work ethic and the goodwill of my audience and the film fraternity have been my biggest assets."
She criticized Dhanush for what she perceived as personal animosity, adding:
"What’s shocking is your legal notice after the release of the trailer. You questioned the usage of a three-second clip shot on our personal devices; BTS visuals that are already publicly available, and demanded ₹10 crore in damages. This is an all-time low from you and speaks volumes about your character."
Nayanthara concluded her note by expressing her dismay at Dhanush’s actions, contrasting his public image with his private dealings.
Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairytale is scheduled to premiere on Netflix on November 18, coinciding with the actor’s birthday. The actor also has several upcoming projects, including Test, Mannangatti Since 1960, Toxic, Mookuthi Amman 2, Dear Students, and a film with Kavin.
Netflix has yet to comment on the dispute.
