It is interesting to note that Jyothika was initially signed to play the lead role opposite Vijay in the blockbuster hit movie 'Friends,' which also featured Suriya in a parallel lead role. Similarly, Suvalakshmi was cast as Vijay's sister and Suriya's love interest. Photoshoots were conducted with these rising young stars, generating significant excitement among fans.

However, due to scheduling conflicts, both Jyothika and Suvalakshmi had to opt out of 'Friends,' directed by Siddique. They were subsequently replaced by Devyani and Vijaylakshmi. Despite the casting changes, the film went on to become a milestone in the careers of both Vijay and Suriya. The film is also remembered for its comedic elements, particularly the performances by Vadivelu and his team.
