Local model Vanizha Vasanthanathan has achieved what every fashion model would strive for - walk the runway at an international fashion show.

The 29-year-old lass from Kuala Lumpur shared photos and a video of her walking the ramp for labels Act N1 and Marco Rambaldi at the recently concluded Milan Fashion Week in Italy, and captioned one of them: "Living my dream and trust me it was not an easy journey!" on her Instagram.

According to The Star, Vanizha made her runway modelling debut at the Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week in 2014, and made her first international appearance at the Lakme Fashion Week in India, two years later.

She has also reportedly modelled at China Fashion Week, and in 2018, she appeared in Malaysian designer Farah Khan's collection of art-inspired designs at the Halcyon Gallery in London.

Vanizha has indeed come a long way for someone who admittedly had confidence issues, growing up.

In past media interviews, she had related how she suffered from low self-esteem after she was teased as a child due to her dark complexion - until she found fashion, which inspired her, and made her realize that it was alright to look different.

Earlier this month, Vanizha spoke to Vogue India about racism in the local modelling industry.

"Unfortunately, people here still subscribe to the stereotype that girls need to be fair-skinned in order to be considered beautiful," she reportedly told the magazine.

Bravo for your achievement Vanizha. Best wishes for scaling greater heights in the future!
