A roadside corn seller in Kota Warisan, Sepang, has come under fire after putting up a sign that read, "Sorry, ini jagung tidak jual sama orang Keling" - (Sorry, this corn is not sold to Indians). The use of the derogatory term "Keling" has sparked widespread criticism, with many calling it a blatant act of racial discrimination.

The incident gained attention after a passerby took a photo of the sign and posted it online. The woman, who witnessed the notice firsthand, confronted the hawker and urged him to remove it.

“I stopped and told the stall owner that it was a racist statement and asked them to take it down. However, he reacted aggressively, pointing his finger at me until it touched my nose,” she recounted.

The woman further claimed that the seller followed her and began recording her movements, prompting her to do the same.

She questioned whether any action had been taken against the vendor, urging those who witnessed the incident to file police reports as she had.

MIC Deputy President Datuk Seri M. Saravanan expressed shock over the incident and called for immediate action from the government, particularly the Ministry of National Unity.

"The use of racial slurs and hate speech like this can damage Malaysia’s social harmony, fostering division and distrust among communities. If left unaddressed, it could have serious long-term consequences for the nation," he said.

Minister of National Unity, Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang, also condemned the hawker’s actions in a statement on X (formerly Twitter), emphasizing that such behavior threatens Malaysia’s racial harmony.

“As a multi-racial nation, we must uphold peace and unity by rejecting any words or actions that hurt or discriminate against any community. Such incidents cannot be tolerated,” he stated.

He further called on Malaysians to adhere to the principles of *Rukun Negara, particularly the values of **Courtesy and Morality*, to foster mutual respect and understanding.

“It is crucial that we work together to strengthen national unity by respecting our differences and prioritizing harmony for the collective good,” he added.

This incident has ignited widespread discussions on racial sensitivity and the importance of reinforcing unity in Malaysia’s multicultural society. Authorities are expected to investigate the matter further.
