Kannada actress Rachita Ram has emerged as one of the biggest surprises in Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Coolie. While her presence in the Rajinikanth starrer had been whispered about for months, neither the team nor the actress confirmed it even the trailer gave only a fleeting glimpse of her. With no mention in promotions or the audio launch, audiences walked into theatres with little expectation of what she would bring to the table.

But when Coolie released, the surprise was unmistakable. Lokesh Kanagaraj had carved out a striking and powerful role for Rachita, one that allowed her to command attention despite sharing screen space with legends. Social media was flooded with reactions like, “Rachita Ram, she got the role of her life”, and “Rachita was the surprise package; didn’t expect that.”

For Rachita, who has spent over a decade in Sandalwood working with stalwarts like Shivarajkumar, Puneeth Rajkumar, Upendra, Darshan, and Sudeep, Coolie marks her first film outside Kannada cinema. Lokesh not only gave her an important arc but also ensured her performance lingered with audiences long after the credits rolled.

The actress, last seen in Sanju Weds Geetha 2, has several Kannada releases lined up, Cult, Rachayya, and Ayogya 2, but her entry into Tamil cinema through Coolie is being hailed as a career-defining move, thanks to the trust Lokesh placed in her talent.
