During the celebration of Ram Navami yesterday, a 'Surya Tilak' or sun ray illuminated the forehead of the Lord Ram Lalla idol at the Ram temple in Ayodhya. According to a senior scientist from the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)-Central Building Research Institute (CBRI), Roorkee, the planned size of the tilak was 58 mm. The sunlight perfectly aligned to illuminate the idol's forehead centre for approximately three to three-and-a-half minutes, with two minutes of full illumination.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi acknowledged this historic occasion during his election rally in Assam's Nalbari. Amidst chants of 'Jai Siyavar Ram', the Prime Minister remarked, 'Today marks the historic occasion of Ram Navami. After a wait of 500 years, Lord Ram is now seated in his grand temple. In a few minutes, as we apply the Surya Tilak to Lord Ram, his birth anniversary will be celebrated at the holy city of Ayodhya, in the Ram Temple.'
