The 71st National Film Awards 2025 were announced in New Delhi on Tuesday, celebrating the best of Indian cinema across languages.

Veteran Malayalam actor Mohanlal was honoured with the Dadasaheb Phalke Lifetime Achievement Award, the highest recognition in Indian cinema.

Among Tamil winners, Parking stood out by bagging the award for Best Tamil Film, with its director Ramkumar Balakrishnan also receiving the award for Best Screenplay. MS Bhaskar, who won Best Supporting Actor for his performance in the film, reflected on its impact in an interview with Cinema Express. “Films of different titles may come and go, but nothing can replace human ego. To represent ego through such a small issue lies with the talent of the director, Ramkumar. I am happy the film has been well received,” he said.

Actress Urvashi was also recognised in the Best Supporting Actor category for her role in Ullozhukku.

Meanwhile, GV Prakash Kumar took home the National Award for Best Music Direction for his songs in Vaathi, starring Dhanush and Samyuktha. This marks his second National Award win, the first being for the background score of Soorarai Pottru. Expressing his joy, GV Prakash said simply, “Thank you, grateful. For the second time.”
