Like its box office success, "Sita Ramam" has captured the hearts of fans worldwide with its compelling storyline and stellar performances by the cast. The chemistry between Dulquer Salmaan and Mrunal Thakur has particularly resonated with audiences, making the romantic drama a global favourite.

Directed by Hanu Raghavapudi, "Sita Ramam" is a period romantic drama inspired by a real-life incident, though it remains a fictional story. In an interview with The Hindu, Raghavapudi shared that the inspiration for the film came from a book he found in 2007, which contained an unopened inland letter. The letter, from a mother to her son, sparked his imagination about the potential impact of its contents on their lives.

“The letter I found in that book was from a mother to her son. I gathered that their family is from Vijayawada and the son is living in a hostel. She had enquired about his well-being and asked when he would be home,” Raghavapudi explained. “It got me thinking, what if the contents of the letter had something crucial that could change the course of events?”

Rajkumar Kandamudi later introduced an army backdrop to the story, and Dulquer Salmaan was cast in the lead role. After several reconsiderations, Mrunal Thakur and Rashmika Mandanna were chosen to portray Sita and Afreen, respectively.

A point of interest for many fans is the character Princess Noor Jahan, played by Mrunal Thakur, and her connection to Princess Niloufer. Princess Niloufer Khanum Sultan Farhat Begum Sahiba, born Nilufer Hanımsultan, was an Ottoman princess known as the Kohinoor of Hyderabad. She was the first wife of Moazzam Jah, the second son of Mir Osman Ali Khan, the last Nizam of Hyderabad.

Fans speculate that Noor Jahan’s character might be inspired by Princess Niloufer. One Reddit user noted, "The movie reminded me of the last Nizam of Hyderabad who had banned cow slaughter in 1920."

The intricate weaving of historical inspiration and fictional storytelling in "Sita Ramam" has undoubtedly contributed to its widespread acclaim and emotional impact on audiences around the world.
