Have you heard about a ride-hailing service called Riding Pink : a platform entirely by women, for women?

Recognised as Malaysia’s first women-only transportation service, Riding Pink was founded by Denise Tan with a clear purpose: to offer women a safer alternative to complement existing ride-sharing apps and public transport, while also empowering women who find it difficult to re-enter the workforce after a career break.

“Although we cannot entirely guarantee the safety and security of our women, we hope that by linking female drivers with female passengers, we can reduce cases of harassment and provide both peace and comfort to our riders and drivers,” said Tan. She also emphasised the importance of women standing up for themselves, voicing out, and taking the necessary action whenever they experience mistreatment or harassment.

Ultimately, Riding Pink serves as a reminder that not all ride-hailing experiences are the same and that safety and empowerment can coexist. As long as passengers stay aware, take safety precautions, and use the right resources, ride-hailing can remain a convenient and secure option for everyone.
