Sometimes, it is not the big gestures that leave an impression. Sometimes, it is simply the way someone carries themselves when things don't go as planned. That was exactly what caught the attention of passenger Annelyn Roslen during a recent Grab ride with a driver named Sanjeevan.
What was supposed to be a short journey home turned into a much longer ride after heavy traffic slowed them down near a factory area.
From around 6pm, Sanjeevan found himself navigating through the congestion. Even by 6.46pm, Annelyn had still not reached home.
But throughout the frustrating journey, there was one thing she noticed. Sanjeevan never complained. He did not grumble about the traffic, blame the roads or make the passenger feel uncomfortable.
Instead, he continued doing his job. For Annelyn, that small act of patience stood out.
She took to Threads to share her experience, describing Sanjeevan as a “real green flag” and contrasting him with a previous driver who had complained whenever traffic became congested.

She even encouraged future passengers who happened to ride with Sanjeevan to show their appreciation with a tip and a five-star rating.
Her post soon caught the attention of thousands of social media users. But perhaps the sweetest part came when Sanjeevan himself responded. Rather than making a big deal out of the praise, he simply thanked everyone and said he was only doing his responsibility as best as he could, even when the roads were congested.
“I just carry out my responsibilities as best I can even though the road is congested. Thank you for the five stars,” he said.
Grab Malaysia also joined the conversation, highlighting how a driver's patience and kindness can make a difficult journey a little easier for passengers.
And perhaps that is what makes Sanjeevan's story so relatable. We all know how frustrating traffic jams can be. Long hours on the road can test even the calmest person.
But sometimes, the way we respond to an inconvenience says more about us than the inconvenience itself. Sanjeevan did not do anything extraordinary. He simply stayed patient, did his job and treated his passenger with consideration.
And somehow, that was enough to make someone's day, a reminder that kindness does not always have to be loud.
Sometimes, it looks like staying calm in traffic, doing your job with sincerity and making someone else's journey a little more comfortable.
