Shihan Hussaini, a multifaceted personality known for his expertise in martial arts, archery, sculpting, acting, and television hosting, has passed away. The news comes shortly after he publicly disclosed his battle with blood cancer and aplastic anemia, leaving his admirers and the industry in mourning.
In an interview with Galatta Tamil, Shihan revealed that he had learned about his diagnosis only a week ago. Despite the gravity of his condition, he remained resilient, stating, "Nothing can deter my determination. I have aplastic anemia, which is beyond cancer. But I will tell you one thing : for a coward, every day is death, but for a warrior, death comes only once."
Demonstrating his enduring commitment to society, Shihan announced his decision to donate his body for medical research. Through his social media platforms, he expressed his wish for his body to be handed over to Sri Ramachandra Medical College three days after his final rites with his karate association. Additionally, he requested that his heart be entrusted to his karate and archery students, symbolizing the profound bond he shared with them.
Shihan Hussaini was widely respected for his contributions to Tamil cinema and the martial arts community. As an esteemed instructor, he trained numerous students and mentored prominent figures, including Pawan Kalyan and Thalapathy Vijay.
His acting career began with K. Balachander’s Punnagai Mannan, where he played a strict dance instructor. This role paved the way for notable antagonist performances in Velaikaran and the shelved Moongil Kottai, as well as an appearance in the Hollywood film Bloodstone. He also starred in Unnai Solli Kutramillai and Vedan, with his last major role being in Badri, where he portrayed Vijay’s fitness coach.
Beyond films, Shihan was known for his devotion to politician Jayalalithaa and his various world record attempts. His passion, dedication, and fearless spirit will be remembered by those whose lives he touched through his work in cinema, martial arts, and beyond.
