The temple’s journey began on February 14, 2020, with a sacred Groundbreaking Puja, officiated by esteemed priests from India and Malaysia. The ceremony witnessed the presence of Jakarta’s Governor, members of the People’s Consultative Assembly, the Indian Ambassador, and religious and cultural leaders. Their participation underscored the temple’s significance in fostering harmony within Indonesia’s multi-ethnic and multicultural society.
Spanning 4,000 square meters, the temple’s construction was made possible through the generous contribution of land by the DKI Jakarta Government. More than just a place of worship, the temple is envisioned as a spiritual, cultural, and educational hub, featuring:
- Majestic shrines dedicated to Lord Murugan and other revered deities.
- A grand multipurpose hall for religious, cultural, and community events.
- A Museum of Indo-Indian Heritage, celebrating the deep historical ties between India and Indonesia.
- Tranquil gardens, providing a serene space for meditation and reflection.
Blending architectural influences from Indian, Balinese, and Javanese traditions, the temple stands as a proud embodiment of Pancasila’s values; unity in diversity.
This temple is not just built with bricks and mortar, but with the blessings of faith and the strength of unity, making it a historical milestone for Indonesia’s Hindu community and beyond.
