The 2005 blockbuster Chandramukhi, starring Superstar Rajinikanth, remains one of Tamil cinema’s most iconic films. A remake of the acclaimed Malayalam film Manichitrathazhu, it featured standout performances by Jyotika, Prabhu, and Nayanthara. However, not many know that the lead role, eventually immortalised by Jyotika, was initially offered to another celebrated actress, Simran.

In a recent revelation, Simran shared that she was the first choice for the titular role in Chandramukhi. At the time, she had already shot a few scenes for the film. However, shortly after her marriage to Deepak Bagga, Simran discovered she was expecting her first child. Owing to her pregnancy, she gracefully stepped away from the project, paving the way for Jyotika’s powerful portrayal.

Although fans missed the opportunity to see Simran in a full-fledged leading role in Chandramukhi, her brief appearance in Rajinikanth’s Petta was a nostalgic treat. Despite the limited screen time, Simran’s presence captivated audiences, a testament to her enduring charm and versatility.
