Sivabalan Arumugam, a name that needs no introduction with artistic perfection in Kolam creation, has once again astounded us with his latest achievement. As the founder of Life Creation Event Planner and Life Creation Rangoli Kolam, Sivabalan has etched his name in the Malaysia Book of Records for using the “Most Colours in a Single Rangoli Kolam.”

This extraordinary feat, created at NU Sentral in conjunction with Deepavali, featured a 20 x 25 feet kolam adorned with 100 distinct shades of colour, an incredible achievement, completed entirely by Sivabalan himself.

In an exclusive interview with Astro Ulagam, Sivabalan shared insights into his remarkable journey to this achievement. “I have been passionate about creating Kolam since the age of 10. This record is the result of years of hard work and my deep love for this art form,” Sivabalan stated.

The vibrant kolam took two days to complete, using 150 kilograms of coloured rice. While Sivabalan single-handedly crafted the masterpiece, he emphasized the invaluable support of his team. “My team members were my backbone. Though the Rangoli Kolam was created by me alone, they were instrumental in mixing the colors and handing them over during the process,” he explained.

Sivabalan also reflected on the diminishing interest in Kolam among younger generations, expressing his concern about how fewer teens are engaging with this traditional art form. “It’s part of our culture, and it’s something that can be learned. However, many young people hesitate to try, even though they would be guided through the process.”

One thing si sure, you're doing a great job! Congratulations to Sivabalan Arumugam for this well-deserved honour. Thank you for making Malaysia proud and for preserving the beauty of our cultural heritage.
