Have you ever heard about the mystery at the Srirangam Temple? Inside this sacred temple, there’s a unique ritual where devotees place their fingers into five small holes carved into the floor. It may seem simple, but it carries a beautiful meaning.

According to temple legend, Goddess Ranganayaki, the wife of Lord Ranganatha, once placed her fingers into these holes while looking through the temple’s Swarga Vasal also known as the Heavenly Gate just to catch a glimpse of her beloved Lord.

This act is believed to represent deep love, devotion, and the connection between the five natural elements : Earth, Water, Fire, Air, and Space and the human spirit. When devotees place their fingers in these holes, it’s said they are offering their five senses to the Lord as a symbol of surrender and faith.
