During the Super Singer finale, host Priyanka Deshpande’s remark asking what Kallakurichi would say about John Jerome's win drew mixed reactions. Fans questioned the necessity of her comment, especially in light of the ongoing tragedy.

The tragic incident in Kallakurichi, where over 55 people died after consuming poisonous liquor, has shocked the nation. This has been a significant setback for the ruling DMK party. Prominent figures like actors Vijay, Suriya, Kamal Haasan, director B. Ranjith, and G.V. Prakash, among others, have condemned the incident. Chief Minister M.K. Stalin announced financial compensation of Rs 10 lakh for the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 for those hospitalized.
The controversy underscores the complexities and sensitivities surrounding reality show outcomes and their perceived fairness, especially during times of regional crises.
