'Yamarindha mozhigalile Thamizh mozhi pol inidhavadhu engum kanom (Of all the languages that we know, there is none as sweet as Tamil),' said Mahakavi Subramania Bharathiyar, expressing his reverence for Tamil.

1. Muthamizh Padippagam, Sentul

Led by Raman, the 65-year-old library touted to be the first and oldest Tamil library in Sentul. Established in the 1960s, an array of over 20,000 books, magazines, and other local and & overseas publications are occupied.

The library is situated in Jalan Sentul, Kuala Lumpur and when it comes to information, it continuously expands its vast array of reference collections and services. The library can be contacted at 03-4041 2279 or via [email protected] for further information.




2. Tamil Library at Dewan Sree Maha Mariamman in Jalan Mengkuang, Butterworth

An amazing effort by Penang Hindu Endowment Board (PHEB) as they have opened a new Tamil library at Dewan Sree Maha Mariamman in Jalan Mengkuang, Butterworth.

Most of the books were donated by Sri Ananda Bahwan restaurant chain co-founder V. Harikrishna. The library is open to the public from 10am to 5pm daily except Fridays and Sunday.



3. Mini library in Seremban’s Sri Mariamman Temple

Thirsty for knowledge on Indian culture and Hinduism?

With the purpose of educating the young about Hinduism, its roots, and cultural features as well as enhancing their understanding of Indian culture, a mini library was established in Seremban's Sri Mariamman Temple by a well-known lawyer namely Puspanathan Sellam.

Having Maheswary Palaniyandi, a retired librarian from the National Library of Malaysia - Puspanathan was inspired to start the library as there are many conflicting views among Hindus on rites, mantras and prayers, and thus, he felt the need to disseminate knowledge to the Indian community.



4. Thiruvalluvar Mandabam, Klang

There is another Tamil library situated in the township of Klang. The public library was formerly known as Thiruvalluvar Mandabam.
