Tick Tick Boooom…

It is indeed a fabulous news for Malaysia!

Time has named the Malaysian actress, Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh its 2022 Icon of the Year, highlighting her stories of a 40-year acting career that includes this year’s Everything Everywhere All at Once.

It was billed as a science-fiction film and has grossed more than US$100 million (S$137 million) at the global box office since it was released in March.

A true gem of a person with her remarkable talents. The now 60-year-old Malaysian actress was involved in several projects this year, including The School For Good And Evil, Minions: The Rise Of Gru, Paws Of Fury: The Legend Of Hank, and the upcoming Avatar: The Way Of Wate which is slated for release this December.

The Ipoh-native actress added:

“It shouldn’t be about my race, but it has been a battle. At least let me try." That's the spirit, Yeoh.

Yeoh has put her heart and soul into the role of an overworked and frustrated wife in Everything Everywhere All At Once.

“When you get an opportunity like this, you have to pour your heart and soul into it, because you don’t know when the next chance is. I think that is my biggest fear: Please don’t let this be the one and only,” Yeoh said.

TIME stated: "Yeoh is carrying an extensive weight in this year’s Academy Awards battle: the understanding that victory for her would be received by Asians everywhere as a victory for them too. No Asian woman has won Best Actress."

‘I feel like my full Asian community has thought about it. They come up to me, and they say, ‘You’re doing it for us.’ - Michelle Yeoh on a possible Oscar win.

And she made her Hollywood debut in the 1997 James Bond film “Tomorrow Never Dies,” following up that success with roles in major movies like “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon,” “Crazy Rich Asians,” and “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.”

On the other note, Yeoh was ranked among the 100 Most Influential People of 2022 by Time magazine earlier this year. Along with Yeoh, Oprah Winfrey, Hwang Dong-hyuk, the originator of the Squid Game, and Kris Jenner, the matriarch of the Kardashian family, were all included as visionaries.

Furthermore, Yeoh has also received a standing ovation by being the recipient of the 'Share Her Journey Groundbreaker Award’ at the Toronto International Film Festival.

To date, Yeoh is consistently hailed as one of the finest performers, and speculation about the Oscar nomination is swirling around for her outstanding performance in the film.

Wishing the fabulously talented and beautiful Michelle Yoh wins a million Oscars in her lifetime!
