Besides observing the right discipline, not doing the wrong things is also key to lose the unwanted weight.
Below are some things that may sabotage your weight loss mission, unbeknownst to you:
1) Fatty/salt laden food
Having fatty/salt laden food will not only clog your arteries, but can also cause hypertension and water retention in your body.

2) Stress
When you're feeling stressed, your body sends out cortisol, known as the stress hormone. Cortisol can make you crave sugary, salty and fatty foods, because your brain thinks it needs fuel to fight whatever threat is causing the stress.

3) Staying up late
Poor sleep is associated with increased oxidative stress, glucose (blood sugar) intolerance (a precursor to diabetes), and insulin resistance. Besides, every extra hour spent awake may also increase the opportunities to eat, and sleeping less may disrupt circadian rhythms, leading to weight gain.

4) Eating in front of the TV/Computer
Researchers say that eating in front of the TV or a computer screen is one of the fastest ways to gain weight, since it prevents people from paying attention to how much food they are consuming.

5) Being stationary
At least stretch your arms and legs when sitting at your workstation. Better still, take a five minute break to walk every one hour.

6) Skipping dairy products
You may think that dairy products are fattening but the truth is on the contrary. Fat-free yogurt, cheese and low-fat milk are actually capable of getting rid of fat in your body. The same goes to calcium, commonly found in milk.

Whatever you eat or do, consistency and discipline are key to meeting your weight loss goals. Just make sure you don't practice these self-sabotaging things that make your mission a failure.
